BotW Remote Bomb (Mk4)
A glowing Sheikah Remote Bomb from ‘Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’, suitable for both cosplay and decorative purposes.
Development
There was, at one point, a Mk1 of the Remote Bomb. There were also good reasons why no pictures exist of it. Creating a perfectly smooth spherical object, that is 3D printable, is what is technically referred to in the business as a problem. There were also some design issues with making the decorative rings actually fit flush onto a curved surface. It took some trial and error to find a workflow that worked.
So, after that trial and error, I moved on to the Mk2 (shown below). It looked good, it fitted together well enough, and it lit up nice and bright. All things considered, it was a good result (and many happy customers would agree).
Design Improvements
Creation
The main central body, base, and handle-cap are now FDM printed using plant-based thermoplastics. The designs were optimized for smooth external perimeters and minimal internal supports, reducing material waste.
The circular external decorations are created using UV-reactive resin, ensuring high-quality and smoothness that FDM printing alone couldn’t achieve.
The development and production of the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Remote Bomb was a journey of continuous improvement. From early challenges to refined designs, each step contributed to a high-quality, durable, and visually stunning final product.
