Breath of the Wild – Guardian Axe ++

The guardian sword designs I had already created were some of my favourite projects to date, and so when someone approached me requesting the Guardian Axe++ design I was extremely excited to get started. 

I quickly became aware of the massive scope of this project though, both figuratively and literally. The Axe++ design is huge, and was going to be heavy, with a long thin handle, which was quickly going to bring fragility and sturdiness into the equation. 

Fortunately, the client lived (relatively) locally, and had already said that they would prefer to collect the finished item in person rather than have it travel through the courier network. Which was a relief, as I really don't know how I would have packaged something like this! 

While certain aspects of the design were carried over from the Guardian Sword++, the bulk of it had to be modelled from scratch in order to accommodate internal structural supports and the sheer mass of the new blade. The runs for the electronics were also much longer, and so required additional care regarding amperage and battery life. 

The hurdles were overcome though, and the end result was magnificent!
